100 seconds to go

I wrote down snippets from our days the past couple of weeks. I had lots of thoughts about the feelings I wanted to share, but we have been even busier since my last post and I figured I may as well post now or it may never happen. Thus, this post is a little more like a bullet list of our days.

Emilie climbs on everything...

I mean everything

Looked over to find Emilie right next to me while I was eating breakfast

Enjoying our sandbox in Syracuse one last time (we plan to build one here - eventually)

Cleaning up the last of our Syracuse rental - SO grateful we're done and can focus on our Own home

First primary activity!

Annie's birthday was so fun. Nice and simple to have at home just as a family.

Baking cupcakes

Enjoying the frosting

Birthday dinner

Since I keep forgetting to buy candles Annie had a little umbrella on her cupcake

Singing to Annie on her birthday

"You've had a birthday!"
"--I will? I will have a birthday some day?"
"Shout hooray! We'd like to sing to you today..."
"--no. no. no no no!"
"...happy birthday to you"
"Hey! don't sing happy birthday yet."
"When do you want me to sing it?"
"um at my birthday"

Clearly, our singing was not appreciated until the actual celebration had begun.

"Look mom I did it!" (I came into the kitchen to find Annie like this)

Helping dad take out the recycling

  • To say goodnight, Emilie waves her entire arm accompanied by the biggest smile.
  • She loves to babble: she narrates her actions, making small noises as she explores every item in the house. (Tossing each thing that she finds).
  • She grunts and kicks her legs when she’s excited.
  • Her vocabulary includes "dada", "mama" (even mom), "baba", and when she sees a dog she jumps up and down and laughs saying “dah! Dah!” her newest word is "yuck"
  • She growls a lot for all emotions.

We enjoyed driving through Amish country on the way to Delta Lake - a nearby reservoir where a village once stood.

Beau was so excited to show me his blueberry hands

Tips on how to spend Sacrament meeting - listen to talks from the mother's lounge - good thing this one has a blackboard and pretty flowers! ha

This church is just down the street from our home. I love the history in New York

The kids and I have loved going to the farmer's market Monday afternoons. We walk to the library and then go by the market on the way home.
Utica is "famous" for its Riggie sauce. We enjoyed Sausage Riggies for dinner - it did not disappoint

Fresh herbs from my friend Holly's garden!

delicious riggies

Community event put on by Tim's clinic. It was fun to finally meet his coworkers now that we live in the area!

power of prayer - Beau got these handcuffs stuck on his ankle. After 10-15 minutes of attempting to pry it loose I remembered we should pray. The result - let's toss that piece of junk into the trash!

The kids love watching Creative Galaxy. Arts and Crafts version of Daniel Tiger (that's my description anyway). So we decided to make a picture for a breakfast snack. I will often hear Annie talking to herself, "This is my masterpiece! Good job. Thank you Arty"

Our refrigerator was kind enough to stop working last week so we could upgrade to a basic stainless steel model. Fortunately I had not yet replaced our dishwasher, so I returned the white one and we bought a stainless steel model to match the fridge. After several youtube videos, late nights and drilling through the cabinet we had a working dishwasher...Moving up in life.

Thanks to a non working freezer the kids had self-made milk shakes (aka: non-frozen ice cream)

New fridge! hooray! also grateful the handle could go on either side. I was feeling a little anxious about opening the door from the left, since every model on display had left side handles.

So many deliveries these last two weeks, but this one was especially exciting for the kids

Beau was surprisingly (maybe not so surprisingly) very helpful in setting up the bunk bed.

All done!

I had no idea they were making funny faces. haha!

What happens when your 3 and 4 year olds get ahold of your phone.

  • Beau and Annie enjoy taking turns sliding down the stairs on their tummies. I’ve decided we better wait to replace the carpet.
  • Beau enjoys counting to 100 so much that he now does most things for 100 seconds. Including brushing his teeth. No complaints here!

As I was changing Emilie the other day I asked Beau to grab a diaper, but he assumed I meant to tell him to grab a pull-up since it was time for bed.
He looked at me and said, “Mom you said diaper”
I replied, “yes a diaper for Beau - Annie - Emilie!” shaking my head and Beau laughing at my muddled mom mind.

My brain still feels like mush, so I should probably head to bed, but stay tuned for another post soon!
